Welcome to Clary ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it's used, and the services we rely on to operate our mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

To provide a seamless and personalized experience, we collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: When you create an account using Apple, Google, or Email, we collect your basic profile information, such as your name, email address, and a unique user ID. This is necessary to identify you and sync your data across devices.
  • User-Generated Content: Any data you create in the app, including task titles, notes, due dates, tags, projects, subtasks, and progress, is stored to enable synchronization and functionality.
  • AI Interaction Data: When you use our AI features, the text and/or images you provide as a prompt are sent to our AI service provider for processing. We may log the prompt and the AI's response, linked to your user ID, for debugging and service improvement purposes. This data is never used to train external AI models.
  • Onboarding Information: During setup, we may ask about your productivity goals, challenges, and feature preferences to personalize your experience.
  • Purchase Information: If you subscribe to Clary Pro, our payment processor handles the transaction securely. We receive information about your subscription status (e.g., active, expired, trial) to unlock Pro features. We never see or store your credit card details.
  • Analytics Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, such as which features you use and which screens you visit. This helps us understand user behavior, identify bugs, and improve the App.
  • Calendar and Reminders Data (Optional): If you grant permission, the App will access your Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, and/or Apple Reminders to create, read, and update events or reminders related to your tasks. This data is only used for sync functionality.
  • Location Data (Optional): If you enable location-based reminders, we access your location to trigger reminders when you arrive at or leave specific places. This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide the core functionality of the App, including creating, managing, and syncing your tasks
  • To authenticate your account and secure your data
  • To process your commands with our AI features and generate relevant responses
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the App's features, performance, and user interface
  • To manage your Clary Pro subscription and provide access to premium features
  • To communicate with you about your account, important updates, or support inquiries
  • To sync your tasks with external calendar and reminder services you've connected

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third-party services to provide our App. These services have their own privacy policies, and we only share the data necessary for them to function:

  • Firebase (by Google): Used for account authentication, cloud data storage (Firestore), and secure backend infrastructure.
  • Google Gemini API: Powers our AI features. Your prompts (text and images) are sent to Google for processing. Google does not use this data to train its models when accessed via API.
  • RevenueCat: Securely manages in-app purchases and subscriptions. We use it to verify your Pro status across devices.
  • PostHog: Provides product analytics that help us understand how the App is used, allowing us to build better features and fix bugs.

4. Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable security measures to protect your data. Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you choose to delete your account, all your personal data and user-generated content will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days, in accordance with our data deletion process.

5. Your Control and Data Rights

You have control over your data. Within the App's settings, you can:

  • Export Your Data: Request a copy of all your task data in a portable format.
  • Sign Out: Sign out of your account at any time.
  • Delete Your Account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data. This action is irreversible.

6. Acceptable Use of AI Features

Clary Pro plans are intended for personal, individual use. The plan includes a generous provision of AI-powered features. We reserve the right to implement rate limiting to prevent abusive or automated usage that could degrade the service for other users. This policy ensures a high-quality, responsive service for everyone.

7. Children's Privacy

Clary is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers, including standard contractual clauses where required.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, through in-app notifications. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
